coej logo thumbThe Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ) condemns the behaviour of the individuals who desecrated the burial place of Hujr bin Adi al Kindi, a sahaba of the Holy Prophet (SAWW).

There are also claims that his body has been exhumed and, whilst this has not yet been verified, several reputable media organisations (as well as personal contacts) have confirmed the desecration, carried out by members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

Hujr bin Adi al Kindi was the companion of both the Holy Prophet (SAWW) and Imam Ali (as); who testified that he was a Faqih i.e. one who possesses the highest taqwa and imaan. Following the death of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW), Hujr bin Adi sided with Imam Ali (as) in the battles of Jamal and Siffeen, where he lost an eye defending Islam. When Imam Hasan (a.s) needed support during the rule of Muawiyya, Hujr bin Adi was called upon to rally support from the tribe of Kindi.
