The CoEJ Islamic and Cultural Religious Affairs committee (ICRA) is pleased and honoured to present this wonderful and unique opportunity to directly interact with an Ayatullah on the topics of Qur’an and Shahr Ramadhan.
Ayatullah Sayyid Ahmad al-Madadi al-Musavi (b. 1951) is one of the most prominent scholars of the Hawza of Qum. Born in Najaf, Ayatullah Madadi studied under Ayatullah Khoei for seven years attending his most advanced lectures (dars) of fiqh and usul. He also spent two years with Ayatullah Sistani before he left for Qum. In Qum, he commenced teaching the most advanced levels of Hawza studies that span over three decades and which he continues till today. His scholastic background and unique method of analysing history and hadith literature have attracted scores of senior scholars and emerging students to his lectures.
Sheikh Kumail Rajani: Having extensively studied in the seminary of Qum from propaedeutic sciences (al-muqaddimāt) to extra-textual course (dars al-khārij), Sheikh Kumail Rajani is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Exeter. He has taught topics such as tafsīr, ḥadīth, history, theology and fiqh at Al-Mostafa International University, Jamiat al-Zahra and a number of other research institutions of Qum. He teaches Islamic Law and Society in the capacity of a Post-Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Exeter. Though primarily focused on the origins and development of Shīʿī ḥadīth, his research interests extend to Qur’anic exegesis, fiqh, uṣūl, history, and Shiʿi Studies more broadly.
